Club Director – Lawrence Young
Lawrence (“Kris”) came to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Memphis years ago as a club member at the Goodwill unit. He joined the South Side unit as a part-time staff where he wore many hats including being the Job Ready Coordinator. He is a recent college graduate as a result of a University of Phoenix/Boys & Girls of America Scholarship for Boys & Girls Club members and staff. Now he serves as the Program Director at the Bernal E. Smith Sr. unit setting a great example for the members of what you can achieve when you set your mind to it.

Program Director – Avis Monso
Avis Monso is a native Memphian and graduated from Northside High. She continued her studies at The Health Care Institute and Tennessee State University. Avis is a certified CNA and has a B.S. in Family Consumer Science with an emphasis in Child Development and Family Relationships. Avis worked as a substitute teacher for Memphis City Schools and early in her career worked at the Buckman and Goodwill Clubs. After residing in Georgia as a Pre-K Teacher she soon returned back to Memphis and found her way back to the Buckman Club. Avis has a strong passion for working with youth and helping them grow.
