President – Vincent Borello

 

 

Sr. Vice President of Special Projects – Bernal Smith, Sr.

Bernal Smith is an individual who has been a great leader across the state of Tennessee, the SE Region and in the entire Boys & Girls Clubs movement.   He is a Christian man, who leads by example and has dedicated himself to developing productive citizens of tomorrow through the work of Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Memphis. He is truly a man of great personal honor and one whose passion and dedication to children lies at the foundation of everything he has done in his adult life.  

Bernal Smith was presented with the Boys & Girls Clubs of America National Professional Service Award, BGCA’s highest award, that can be presented to a Club professional. He began his association with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Memphis in 1967, as a Program Director at the Dixie Homes Boys & Girls Club and he also worked, as a Club Director, at the John Dustin Buckman Boys & Girls Club, here in Memphis.  He worked, as a Club Director, until 1992. In 1992, he accepted the role as Director of Operations with the organization and also served as the acting President. He now serves as the Senior Vice President, of Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Memphis.  Not only has Bernal served this organization with great distinction, he has also served in leadership capacities across the region and country. He has chaired the Mid-South chapter of TPA; served as chair of the SE Administrative Conference, served as a career coach through Boys & Girls Clubs of America Career Assistance Network, he is a member of the SE Diversity committee and has served on the Training and Professional Development committee. He also has served as a Board Member of the National Board of TPA. He has been a great advocate and mentor for many of his fellow professionals.

Bernal has been married to his lovely wife, Emerle, for 45 years. He is the proud father of one son, two daughters and five grandchildren. He has been recognized for his service with many local, state and national awards, a few of these include: the Ira Samelson Jr. Award for outstanding service to his local Club; the prestigious Herman S. Prescott award in 2004 and TPA’s Professional of the Year award. He has also been inducted into BGCA’s Masters and Mentors program, where he joins only 47 others, who are all deemed as legacy leaders.

Vice President of Operations – Diane Stockard

Diane Stockard has been with the Boys & Girls Clubs for five years.  She recently moved to Memphis from Murfreesboro Tennessee to take the position of Vice President of Operations.  Diane has been very active in the movement since 2005.  She was given the key to the city of Smyrna Tennessee, where she took a small Club in a rented building to a 4.5 million dollar club in three years.  She has received several awards due to her accomplishments as a Club Director and leader.  She was recently named Non-Profit Leader from the Nashville Business Journal in Nashville Tennessee.  She graduated from Middle Tennessee State University, the University of Martin and Motlow State Community College.  Diane holds several degrees in Political Science, International Relations and Art.  She also received her Real Estate Certificate.  Diane many skills, but she is known throughout the country also as a great artist.  She has paintings in several art galleries across the country and hope to bring her art to the kids in Memphis.  Diane is very excited to be a part of the Memphis organization. 

Vice President of Development and Marketing – Cho Krugel

Hyun Cho was born in Seoul, S. Korea.  She moved to Oxford, Mississippi then to Memphis, Tennessee when she was eight years old.  She graduated from Craigmont High School and went on to receive her Bachelors in Business in Marketing at University of Tennessee, Knoxville.  After year and a half, she returned to Memphis to receive her Masters in Journalism, Public Relations at the University of Memphis. Her career consisted of Territory Manager with Black & Decker/DeWALT power tools, Media Relations Coordinator with Memphis Convention & Visitor Bureau, Marketing Manager with Memphis and Shelby County Music Commission/Memphis Music Foundation, and Integrated Marketing Coordinator with MTV.  She joined the Boys & Girls Clubs Movement June of 2007 as Special Events Manager and is now the V.P of Resource Development.  During her free time she likes to spend it with her husband, Dustin Krugel, watching movies, marathon of Lost and Heroes, and listening to music.

Special Events and Development Manager - Cassandra Thomas

Cassandra Thomas spent her days at the Boys & Girls Club in her hometown of Martinez, CA.  For a young girl growing up in a single-parent home, the Club provided a creative space where she discovered a talent in art; something that would later become a major part of her life and career. Though she found comfort in her small town, her dream to live in a big city gave her the courage to travel almost 3,000 miles from home to pursue her college education on the East Coast.  She spent the next five years studying Advertising and Graphic Design at Howard University in Washington DC. Her senior internship was spent working in the Development Department at Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Washington (BGCGW).  After earning her Bachelor’s Degree in 2006, she began working fulltime for BGCGW as the Event Coordinator and spent the next two years planning fundraisers, managing auctions, and utilizing her creative skills. In 2009, she packed her bags and moved to Memphis to work as the Event & Development Manager with Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Memphis. She currently resides in East Memphis with her imaginary guard dog named Spot.

Human Resource Manager – Gayle Yarbrough

Gayle Yarbrough came to the Boys & Girls Club in January 2008 from Galveston, Texas. She has a BS Degree in Business Management from The University of North Alabama and is currently working on her Masters in Human Resource Management at Webster University. Gayle is certified as a Professional in Human Resource Management by the Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM). She is a member of The American Payroll Association and the Northwest Mississippi Chapter of APA. She is also a member of SHRM National in Memphis. She considers it an honor to represent The Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Memphis in Human Resources.  

Accounts Payable – Tiffany Mallory

Tiffany Mallory is a born and raised Memphian. She graduated from White Station High in 2002 and is now getting her BS at University of Memphis. She has been with the Boys & Girls Clubs Movement since October 2007, and is looking forward to many more years with the organization.

Administrative Associate – Jessica Miller

Jessica Miller has been with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Memphis for over 29 years.

David Keigan – Camp Director

Born and raised in Braintree, MA. Spent summers in Maine on Sebago Lake where learned to swim, fish, canoe and exploring the woods. Attended Catawba College in Salisbury, NC where he majored in Physical Education & Health and pitched for the baseball team. He also has an AA in Recreational Leadership and did graduate work at Lang Beach State, CA. He moved to Southern California where he started working for the Boys & Girls Club as Shop Director and worked his way up to Program Director.  He became Camp Director of Pathfinder Ranch for the Boys & Girls Club of Palm Springs 1983. As Camp Director he increased the operating budget from $250,000 to over $1,000,000 and developed an Advancement Program that inspired campers to come back year after year. He spent several years as a successful real estate agent in Southern California before jumping back into the organized camping field with Georgia Council of Campfire USA. David joined the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Memphis in February 2009 to Direct Camp Phoenix. David Looks forward to providing the children of Memphis a safe, challenging, educational and rewarding summer camp experience.
